Bloodthirster
This is the Greater Daemon of Khorne. To enter our plane, the Bloodthirster possesses a worthy sacrificial unit, bursting forth in the form of a 30-foot tall winged daemon. Entire armies have met their death on its blades. The Bloodthirster exists to destroy and kill, and takes damage whenever not in combat. If its thirst for destruction cannot be satisfied, it will eventually disappear from our plane.
The Bloodthirster uses 5 once summoned, but does not require the free squad cap to be summoned. This means that summoning the Bloodthirster at full population will bring your squad cap up to 25/20. You'll need to lose 5 extra squad cap before a lost squad can be replaced.
Note: When out of combat the Bloodthirster takes 4 Hitpoints damage per second, but gains 5 HP per second while in melee combat. The Bloodthirster must be in melee combat, not just shot at, to receive his health bonus. This means that a Bloodthirster engaging a XV8 Crisis Battlesuit, a XV88 Broadside Battlesuit or a vehicle in melee will not receive his health bonus as they cannot engage in melee combat.
Tactics
The Bloodthirster thrives in close combat. However, though it may possess the ability to fly, it should never be left to its own devices, or used alone on the battlefield. Focused fire will bring even this behemoth down. As such, one must be careful in what situation to throw it into. Its gradual health loss is even more incentive to use this creature in a prolonged combat, or perhaps as a distraction in an enemy base.
One must always realize that the Bloodthirster is summoned onto the battlefield. This allows a multitude of options for the shrewd general. Summoning it from a Chaos Sorcerer, though effective, leads to the loss of a powerful, expensive unit. An Aspiring Champion, however, is far easier to replace. Using an infiltrated Chaos Space Marine Squad or Cultist Squad, one can sneak behind a battlefield, summoning the beast and throwing it at the opponents flank.
Another useful tool is to use a Chaos Rhino, loading a Chaos Space Marine Squad or Cultist Squad into it. Driving into the center of the battle, the Chaos Rhino is destroyed, and the units within, if infiltrated, are effectively placed within the enemies center. As detectors usually lead the way into battle, one can take the time to summon the Bloodthirster, attacking the fragile ranged squads no longer protected behind durable vehicles or close combat infantry.
One useful - if insane - tactic is to teleport the Sorcerer into the midst of an enemy army, then summon the Bloodthirster. This has the advantage of scattering enemy troops all over the place from the shockwave that emits when the Bloodthirster is first summoned, and also gets the Bloodthirster right into the thick of combat, which is exactly where it belongs.
It should be noted that the Bloodthirster is in fact the most powerful unit in the game against buildings, able to level headquarters buildings quicker than any other single entity ingame. Statistically, it can destroy the average turret in about 5 seconds, for example.
