Energy Core
The most advanced Necron computers are stored within this structure, allowing for the proper resurrection of the most powerful Necron weapons and equipment. With the proper enhancements, it can even channel the power of the Star Gods themselves. Its computational power is such that it can maintain the entire Necron infrastructure without a Monolith present, finally allowing the Restored Monolith to leave the base and join the fight itself.
Tactics
This building is a rather low importance target. Once the Essence of the C'Tan Gods ability is researched (or Essence of the Nightbringer in Dark Crusade), the only thing this building is required for is in constructing a Restored Monolith and selectively useful Lord Destroyers. If the Necron player already has a Restored Monolith on the field then destroying this building will have little impact, and they can simply build more to counter this tactic. It will simply be a diversion for an attacker's forces, making them waste firepower on it instead of more important structures unless the attacking player is directly controlling his forces to do otherwise.
Since the Soulstorm expansion, the Essence of the C'Tan Gods ability is well worth the power cost when compared to the Nightbringer research in Dark Crusade. The Essence of the Deceiver ability has phenomenal crowd control capabilities that can turn the tide of a bad situation in the Necron players favor. The primary ability being the Grand Illusion, which creates a hologram Restored Monolith to rain Gauss beams upon the enemy. While unable to do damage, it causes immense disruption, creates a decoy that opponents will shoot upon, and serves as a beacon for summoning the Necron troops capable of the ability. Deceive is also a powerful ability which causes the enemy troops to fall under the Necron players control for a short period of time.
The uses of the other units that this building allows to be produced are still questionable as to their overall usefulness to cost ratios. Use care when managing the Necron economy.
