Chaos
From RelicWiki
Like the Space Marines, Chaos Marines are one of the most elite fighting forces in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. But Chaos also draws on the power of the Warp and their hordes of daemons and followers to create a dangerously brutal and unpredictable fighting force. Chaos uses hordes of Cultist, sorcerous abilities, and warp-spawned daemons to throw enemies off guard and then finish them off with the cold, calculating brutality of Space Marines who have lived and fought for thousands of years.

Backstory
At the birth of the Imperium of Man, fully half of the Emperor's most trusted Space Marine Legions turned against him in a bitter civil war known as the Horus Heresy. Brother fought brother, and Mankind stood upon the very brink of extinction in this civil war. After Warmaster Horus was defeated, the fallen Space Marines were banished to the Eye of Terror.
Ten thousand years after their defeat, those same traitors still launch their Black Crusades out of the Eye of Terror, intent upon nothing less then the utter destruction of the Imperium and the death of its weakling Emperor. Now and forever they had become Chaos Space Marines, despised and feared as traitors and heretics throughout the galaxy.
Dawn of War
The Alpha Legion on the planet of Tarturus, lead by Lord Bale and Sindri Myr, were plotting in the background on freeing the daemon from the Maledictum and wielding its power. They sacrificed much blood in order to satisfy the daemon. But the Blood Ravens chapter of the Space Marines, lead by Captain Gabriel Angelos foiled their plan but ended up freeing the daemon.
Winter Assault
In the planet of Lorn V, Lord Crull of the Blood Legion Of Khorne stumbles upon the Imperial Guard's mission to recover an ancient Titan Dominatus. Lord Crull, in his lust for power and recognition, allied with the Ork's Warboss Gorgutz in order to capture the Titan for Khorne.
Dark Crusade
Summoned by Heretical cultists on the Demos Peninsula of Kronus, the Chaos Lord Eliphas the Inheritor, once a young champion who betrayed the Imperium during the Horus Heresy, emerges from a Warp portal and sets out to conquer Kronus with the Word Bearers legion.
During the Horus Heresy, Eliphas the Inheritor was a champion of the proud Space Marines, but the whispers of the Chaos Gods drove him and other Space Marines to turn traitor. Although they lost their war against the loyalist Ultramarines, Eliphas returned to Kronus a greater threat than before. Leading an army of heretics and Chaos Space Marines over the planet, the young Chaos Commander would soon remake the planet Kronus into his own twisted desires. After quickly taking down the Orks, Eliphas recovered the skull of Crull to offer to Khorne. Next, the Chaos Space Marines bring death and destruction to Or'es Tash'n as they overrun the Tau stronghold. Although the Imperial Guard's faith was strong, many men of the 5th company willingly submit to the Chaos forces, thus turning the tide in Eliphas's favor. Even when the Eldar used a rogue Chaos sorcerer to their advantage, Eliphas was more than willing to show his fellow Chaos comrades the price of treachery. When the Necrons and Chaos clashed on the open field, none could praise this evil vs evil carnage. Finally, when the Blood Raven Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines met, it was the Horus Heresy all over again, brother vs brother.
At the end of his great war, Eliphas the Inheritor not only consumed the planet in Chaos, but ascended into a Daemon Prince ready and fit to rule over the planet. All over the world of Kronus, heretical cultists practice rituals daily while many Imperial soldiers are sacrificed to the Chaos Gods. With the blessings of the four Chaos Gods, Eliphas used Kronus as a stepping stone as he launched more attacks to the Imperium and becomes a terrible threat to the Imperium.
Chaos Units
Heretic
"Yes, YES! We will work faster!!"
Heretics are good for little more then manual labor. They are frail, cowardly creatures but have been versed in the basic rites necessary to channel the powers of Chaos to summon their defiled buildings and mend damaged structures and vehicles. These wretches are put to work constructing field bases, laying down defenses, and repairing vehicles in the field. Their crude training leads them to be very inefficient at their tasks, but they can be forced to draw on the energies of the Warp to work faster at the expense of their own health.
Cultist Squad
"We will serve you...and in return...grant us the power of the Dark Gods!"
As the workhorses of the Chaos army, Cultists are cheap, numerous, and expendable. They are also weak and of little use other then as a distraction. Cultists can, however, be trained for specialty tasks like infiltration or spotting invisible foes.
Chaos Space Marine Squad
"For the Dark Gods!"
Chaos Space Marines are every bit the heavily armed, armored, and highly skilled soldiers as their loyalist foes. However, they lack the trust and faith of true Space Marines, resulting in lower morale.
Raptor Squad
"We soar on wings of fire."
The Raptor Squad utilizes jump packs to move to the battlefield quickly. Equipped for close-combat, they generally cannot outfight other close-combat specialists but are deadly against standard troops. Unlike the Assault Marines, these units can be built without the requirement of an armory.
Khorne Berzerker Squad
"I am not your bootlick!!"
Once ordinary Space Marines, Khorne Bezerkers have succumbed to the lust of blood and battle, fused with their armor and absolutely fearless. Their vicious brutality knows no bounds and they eschew ranged combat in favor of massive Khornate Chainaxes, carrying a bolt pistol only to cause some extra carnage before they can rip the target apart in melee.
Horror Squad
Horror Squads are warp-spawned Tzeentchian daemons that can immolate enemy units with daemonic fire. They are resilient units that are summoned directly into battle to surprise the enemy. As summoned daemonic units they are inherently unstable, so morale damage will potentially banish them back to the Warp.
Possessed Squad
"Do you hear the voices, too?"
Possessed Squads were once regular Chaos Marines, but have been mutated by proximity to the Warp and gifts from the Chaos gods. They are close-combat monsters, able to use their daemonic talons and strength to literally rip enemies limb-from-limb. Once upgraded with Daemonfire, they will spew warp-fueled flames as they close on their enemies. Their mutated hides can absorb tremendous punishment and few foes can withstand their crushing blows.
Obliterators
"We.... Must.... Obliterate!!"
Fused with their armor and charged with daemonic energies, these leviathans form a variety of different weapon types to deal with any who stand against them. Ungodly tough and able to generate enormous amounts of firepower, they are also plodding and slow. Although too big to be easily transported, they enter battle by deepstriking and can mount teleporters within their mutated forms.
Chaos Lord
"Forces of Chaos.... Bow to me!!"
The Chaos Lord is the main leader of the Chaos army. A highly skilled and incredibly powerful unit, his powers focus more on directly crushing his foes than supporting his troops. If he proves his worth in battle, the Chaos gods may raise him up as a powerful Daemon Prince.
Chaos Sorcerer
"My abilities are at your disposal."
Chaos Sorcerers are powerful entities able to focus the very substance of the Warp. The Chaos Sorcerer is the primary psyker for the Chaos army. The Chaos Sorcerer's abilities are focused on combat and debilitating enemy units.
Daemon Prince
"I have ascended - none may challenge me!!"
The Daemon Prince is a Chaos Lord who has abandoned all vestiges of humanity and ascended to Daemonhood. The ultimate melee combatant, the Daemon Prince is among the most powerful commander units in the game. With all the powers of the Chaos Lord, and a new ability, Daemon Roar, which breaks the morale of all nearby enemy units, the Daemon Prince is a fitting addition to the Forces of Chaos.
Bloodthirster
The Greater Daemon of Khorne. To enter our plane, The Bloodthirster possesses a worthy sacrificial unit, bursting forth in the form of a 30-foot tall winged daemon. Entire armies have met their death on its blades. The Bloodthirster exists solely to destroy the enemies of Chaos, and takes damage whenever not in combat, eventually disappearing from our plane if its thirst for destruction cannot be satisfied.
Chaos Rhino
"We will deliver pure evil into the heart of the battle."
The Chaos Rhino is a tough, reliable troop transport, able to get troops quickly into a fight. It can provide a smoke screen to cover an army's advance. It cannot carry the massive Obliterators.
Defiler
A mechanized walking nightmare, the Defiler's primary role is a mobile siege tank. Its Battle Cannon can bash almost any defensive structure from long range, or be fired indirectly to damage and demoralize enemy forces. It wields a dual Autocannon and a Heavy Flamer on its sides for more ranged fire at shorter ranges. It also every bit as powerful in melee, ripping apart anything that comes within reach of its massive claws.
Hell Talon
The Chaos Hell Talon is the Traitor Legions' frontline bomber, its aggressive profile and fearsome arsenal of weapons an easy match for most loyalist aircraft. With a crew of three, the Hell Talon is a new addition to the rapidly growing Chaos arsenal of war machines.
Chaos Predator
"Their weapons are ineffective against Chaos armor."
The primary tank of the Chaos Army, the Predator's primary use is as a fire support unit, forcing enemies to deal with a multi-pronged threat of troops and vehicles.
Chaos Buildings
Desecrated Stronghold
This is the basic headquarters of a Chaos base. Heretics and Cultists are ordered here. Squad and Support Cap Research are acquired here as well. Upgrade the Desecrated Stronhold to Desecrated Fortress and Unholy Monastery to make available vehicles, more infantry, and advanced research in other Chaos buildings.
Listening Post
This building functions in the same manner as the Space Marine Listening Post.
Plasma Generator
The Plasma Generator provides Power Resource, which is needed to support certain buildings, units, and upgrades. Each stronghold can support a limited number of Plasma Generators.
Thermo Plasma Generator
A more powerful variant of the Generator, Thermo-Plasma Generators can only be built upon Slag Deposits.
Chaos Temple
The Temple allows the requisitioning of Chaos Space Marines and the Chaos Lord. Additional units and research become available as the Desecrated Stronghold is upgraded.
Chaos Armoury
Research into weapons and improvements are available at the Chaos Armory.
Sacrificial Circle
Horror Squads and Possessed Squads are available at the Sacrificial Circle, as are hero improvements and improvements to the squads created here.
Machine Pit
Vehicles can be built and vehicle capability improvements are researched at the Machine Pit.
Daemon Pit
The Bloodthirster is available from the Daemon Pit when a Relic is obtained as is the Obliterators and the teleport improvement too.
Heavy Bolter Turret
A basic stationary defense that can be upgraded to a missle turret.
Mine Field
Land mines are used to slow and disrupt enemy advances, scattering and damaging foes as they advance. A defensive position should never be without a few well placed mines, it can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
