Warboss

"I'm da biggest, so I'm da Boss!"

The Ork Warboss leads an Ork army and is one of the most powerful units. He's in charge simply because he's the biggest Ork around, and is without exception able to mobilize his boyz into the grand wild Waaagh! that Orks are so notorious for. Unlike armies of other races, who have their commander at the beginning of the battle, the Warboss won't show up until the fight gets interesting. When enough Boyz have amassed at a location, he then shows up to push them around and lead the mob to battle.

Warboss Orkamungus led the Ork forces assaulting Tartarus in Dawn of War. Warlord Gorgutz 'Ead 'Unter led his Waaagh! across Lorn V in Winter Assault, then led them again to find new battles on Kronus in Dark Crusade. Proving the adage that a real Ork never loses, he just runs away and fights some other day, Warlord Gorgutz 'Ead 'Unter founded a new Waaagh! in the Kaurava system in Soulstorm.

Charge Bonus: Once within 7 range of its target when on Assault stance, the Warboss gains a +30% movement bonus to its current base speed, enabling it to quickly close the distance with other units into melee.

Tactics

The Warboss is an excellent warrior, but because he becomes available in Tier 3, it will be easy for the enemy to focus fire on him and kill him quickly. To ensure his survival, attach him to a squad, preferably a Nobz Squad, and research Tougher Bosses Research.

The Special ability of the Warboss, Power of Waaagh!, is very useful. Not only does it make all Orks immune to morale damage, but it will increase their damage and movement speed. The movement speed bonus is very nice as the typical problem with melee squads is they are killed by ranged units before they reach their target.
