Khorne Berzerker Squad
"KILL! KIIIILLL!!!"
Once ordinary Space Marines, Khorne Berzerkers have succumbed to the lust of blood and battle and given themselves over to the service of Khorne - the Blood God. Fused to their armor, and utterly without fear, they are incredibly strong in close combat, where they hack everything to pieces with their chainaxes. Like the bloodthirsty lunatics they are, they don't care in the least for their own losses, as their own deaths also please Khorne. This means that they never run from combat, but stand fast and fight until either there are no more enemies left alive or until the Berzerkers are all killed themselves.
Tactics
Using Berzerkers
Fast and powerful, Khorne Berzerkers are powerful melee units whose primary advantages consist of their durability, morale immunity, and speed (both in their movement speed and the speed at which they can be produced).
Therefore, Khorne Berzerker Squads are a useful tool on the battlefield. One of their greatest strengths is their immunity to morale effects, which gives them an advantage over other races' close combat units. Their swift speed allows them to quickly fall upon enemy ranged squads, forcing them to either retreat or take heavy losses.
Unlike Chaos Space Marine Squads, Khorne Berzerkers are unable to infiltrate, making them a popular choice for attaching units such as the Chaos Lord or Chaos Sorcerer without making the squad more vulnerable. However, attaching these hero units lowers the squad's speed to the commander's speed, taking away one of their advantages. The benefit, though, is that the squad gives the hero invulnerability to morale effects and in return the hero acts as a powerful combat unit to tip close fights in the squad's favor, a tool Khorne Berzerkers would otherwise be without as they have no Aspiring Champion upgrade.
In battle, it is best to use Berzerkers to target vulnerable infantry squads and builders. They can also easily kill Commander units, provided they aren't supported by a stronger squad (such as a Farseer with a Seer Council or Big Mek with a Nobz Squad). Conversely, attached Commanders can be engaged quite effectively by attaching your own to Berzerker squads; a Chaos Sorcerer makes for a particularly fine choice, though the Chaos Lord is equally suitable.The mark of Khorne is excellent on the Warp Beast Pack as their morale will break and they will turn on the Dark eldar.
Because they reinforce quickly and cannot be broken, they can act as a good screen for your ranged troops against bigger, more melee-oriented forces, such as an Ork mob. This helps your troops to hold the line and not waste valuable firing time killing some half-hearted melee unit that got too close. Their speed makes them good capture units and scouts as well, and they can even act as spotters in a pinch (though Cultists are usually better-suited).
Fighting Berzerkers
Khorne Berzerkers fare poorly against buildings and vehicles. They are extremely vulnerable when fighting such foes, and even the likes of a Turret - a building with weak armor - can be a daunting foe for them if one is not careful. Listening Posts are also difficult for Berzerkers - to say nothing of HQ or production structures. The only way to take down any larger structure with Berzerkers is to have a large number of squads attacking it. Similarly, Berzerkers have extremely poor anti-vehicle damage and are especially vulnerable to walker vehicles such as Dreadnoughts or Defilers. Bear in mind, however, that Berzerkers cannot break and reinforce quickly, so will last far longer than most other infantry units in close-combat against a walker.
Canny players can exploit this weaknesses of Khorne Berzerkers by encouraging them to attack their buildings or a walker vehicle, then picking off the Berzerkers piecemeal, only to flee and repeat the process from a safe distance. In this way, it's possible to cut off an enemy's early rush, should it rely too much on Berzerkers.
