Sentinel
"Quick and fast, just the way we like it."
A light walker intended for scouting and rapid raids, the Sentinel serves in many variations across the Imperium. A team of Sentinels can strike an objective and be gone before enemy forces arrive.
Sentinels can decap Strategic Points, Critical Points and Relics, but cannot capture them.
Tactics
Sentinels are the fastest decapping unit in the game and are the only decapping vehicle. With their high resistance to anti infantry weaponry, low cost, and speed they are very effective at stopping take and hold countdowns.
Sentinels, like most IG vehicles, work best in teams. It cannot stand up in a straight fight against other races' walker units (Dreadnoughts, Wraithlords, etc). So you will need to dance them by running away a bit, stopping, and shooting. If you have multiple Sentinels, this is more easily accomplished. The target vehicle can also be temporarily immobilized by Curse of the Machine Spirit (CotMS) from a Psyker.
Sentinels, despite their truly huge vehicle damage, do very little damage against vehicle_high. This includes Killa Kans, Baneblades, Land Raiders, and Restored Monoliths. Although CotMS can help to buy the Sentinels more time, your Sentinels will still be occupied for a long time to bring down the target. In these cases, the now-targetable Heavy Weapons Teams fare much better against vehicle_high armor when upgraded with a Lascannon.
Because of their high speed and solid damage against buildings, Sentinel packs make excellent economy thrashers. They can show up at a Listening Post, destroy it, decap the point, and run away before reinforcements arrive.
